General Ledger Accountant
A General Ledger accountant (or just GL accountant) is responsible for the following activities: journal entries, account reconciliations, assist with Tax Information and month/quarter end activities.
GL accountants are responsible for the preparation and posting of journal entries related a variety of information including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, accruals and deferrals.
Accounts reconciliations involve several ledger accounts including bank accounts, fixed assets accounts, tax accounts etc and ensure that the information are accurate, timely and valid.
GL accountants also play a key role during month and quarter end closings, they review the information entered into the company’s accounting ledger and ensure no mistake was made prior to preparation of financial statements.
In UK and Ireland GL accountants are usually ACCA qualified accountants
